2 Months

Sawyer's such a sweet baby. It's hard to believe he's going to be 2 months old this week! He's playing with toys and having cooing conversations with us! He's even trying to crawl :( Can he really be ready to leave us already? Luckily his arms aren't quite strong enough to take him anywhere too fast. It's hard to get anything else done when he's awake because he's so fun to be around! He's looking more and more like his daddy every day!

Watching T.V.

A common scene in the mornings :)

At the Airline History Museum in KC... needless to say, he didn't catch much of the tour

Neither did Grandma because a certain someone decided to be rambunctious!

Happy baby!

Not doing much in this video... just thought it was sweet

Talking to Daddy

1 Month Old

On September 16 Sawyer was officially one month old! Slade weighed him a couple of days ago and found him to be approximately 10 and a half pounds! He gained 3 pounds in one month! I don't know if that's normal, but it's astonishing to me as a new mother. We haven't measured his length as of yet, but he's been averaging a half an inch a week since he was born.
What's new? Well, since we traveled out to North Carolina he's been quite vocal! Talks and squeals a lot for the little man he is! He's smiling and talking in his sleep. He loves looking at his hand and laying on your chest so he can look up at you :)
Who does he look like? We think he's a pretty good combination of the both of us. At this point he definitely has Daddy's nose and probably my facial bone structure. Everything else could go either way. Sometimes he looks like Daddy's mini-me, and other times he looks a bit more like his momma.
Here are a few pictures...

This one taken by Grandma Scott on Skype! Oh how we love Skype!

After a nap

Lately his hair has been kind of crazy. One night we dried his hair after a bath and it shot up into a mohawk. I would never do this on purpose, but we thought it was pretty cute :) A few days of the mohawk and then his whole head of hair stood straight up! It's starting to tame itself now as it gets a little longer. Daddy had to trim the hair around his ears because it was was getting out of hand! We should probably cut his hair for real, but we have fun playing with it :)

The mohawk

Sometimes Sawyer and Slade could be twins. Here is a picture after getting ready for church!
And a picture of them sleeping. Almost identical, aren't they?

More to come!

Bath Time!

Sawyer loves his baths! If he's in a bad mood a bath will calm him down... until you decide to take him out :) he'll scream the instant he's out of the water!

Right now his hair is getting pretty long. When we dry him off his hair will go into a temporary afro/ curly puffball and it's adorable! His hair kind of blended in with the towel in these pictures, so it's not as noticeable, but still cute :)

Play Time!

Hopefully these videos work for everyone. He's so darn cute, I couldn't help but post them! Plenty more to come!

3 Weeks!

It's been wonderful having Sawyer with us! No doubt there have been challenges, but it's all worth it :) Everyone comments on how strong he is for a newborn... I don't know any different, but we'll take the compliments anyway! Sawyer loves to try to stand on his feet, he giggles and smiles in his sleep (starting to do it while awake now too!), and has the prettiest eyes that just make you melt when they start at you! He's a great baby. Sleeps for about 3 hours at a time and is starting to stay awake more often to play with us!

Here are some pictures of Missouri before we left for "vacation."

Sisters and nephews!

Benton used to be the baby, but Sawyer makes him seem so old now!

We miss family back in Missouri, but are having a great time in NC with Slade's family. We'll all be back soon!

Sawyer Slade Thackeray

Today Sawyer is one week old! He was born Monday, August 16, 2010 at 9:42pm. He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and measured 20 inches long. Sawyer was totally worth the 25 hour labor :) Slade stuck by me through the whole thing even though he was sure he'd lost his wife to a moaning crazy person. Sawyer is such a good baby! Also very healthy! His APGAR score was a 9/10 (we're bragging already).

Getting ready to leave the hospital. He was our little gangster. Newborn clothes were still too big for the little guy.

Sawyer's favorite way to sleep... on Daddy's chest

Hands always up to his face

Getting some lovin' from Daddy

This boy smiles A LOT! We know he doesn't know what he's doing just yet, but he smiles a lot in his sleep.

First bath. He loved it!

KC Crossroads Art District

Last night Slade and I went to the First Friday event in the Crossroads District downtown. It's held on the first Friday of every month. All local galleries, restaurants, and shops open their doors to the public! You'll likely see all kinds of musicians and jewelry vendors along the way! It's a great experience if you're into crowds and all of the artsy stuff. Lately we've been watching a show on Bravo called "Work of Art: The Next Great Artist." There is a woman from KC on the show, Peregrine Honig. I wanted to see some of her art in person, but ended up stumbling upon her boutique, Birdies! We stopped in to look around and she was standing at the counter as we walked in! Star-struck, I just found a book and tried to lay low. Slade thought I should go up and talk to her, but I was too nervous. On our way out she stopped me and said she wanted me to try some things on that she thought I'd really like. Turns out she seemed to be a really sweet person and tried to meet my needs as the "Pregnant Lady" and future mom. Anyway, it was a great experience and I wish I wouldn't have been too scared to talk to her about things from the show and how she was able to start up her own boutique (my dream!).

This is Peregrine.

This is her boutique.

Slade and I browsed a few galleries and furniture shops after that and it didn't take too long before I was ready to go. On our way back to the car we found some Back to the Future cars!

I think we were both tired, but I wanted to get a picture of us there before we left because it may very well have been our last date before we have the baby...

Ice cream sounded pretty good, so we went to Skies and shared a Sky High Pie after we left :) I wish we could have stayed out longer, but I had a great time! Love you Huz!
